Hello ello people,
This week, I am gonna share about another successful shoe brand story, though they are no longer into just shoes. Has the title already given me away? Yes, it’s Christian Louboutin. Louboutin first started creating shoes for showgirls which eventually led to a bigger stage for him with many famous celebrities walking down the red carpet in his designer’s shoes. Louboutin started his career as a shoe designer in 1982, designing for brands such as Yves Saint Laurent and Chanel.
Christian Louboutin is famous for its distinctive bright red outsole, the kind of red that can catch your attention from far. More than once, I had this question in my mind. Why red? Why not blue, green, purple or even pink? So, today, I did my research and just about to share and reveal the mystery. The simple decision behind this red outsole is when Louboutin saw his assistant painting her nails red, and he thought, “OMG! Red Soles are so flirtatious!”. That’s it, and this is how he started the red outsole legend in 1992.The original plan was to make it a statement for just a season but his customers seems to take the concept so well that it has never stopped since then. This has somehow become a reminder to myself to always observe different things wherever I go. Many a times, small details turn into big ideas. Being in the shoe industry now, I have this habit of walking with my head down. Not looking at phones, but looking at shoes.
There are so many celebrities who have worn Christian Louboutin shoes that I probably won’t be able to name everyone. So, let’s just do a few. Madonna has worn it in a few of her music videos which kind of introduce this brand to the world. Kate Moss inspired Christian Louboutin to come up with a “So Kate” series after fitting her for her wedding celebrations. Blake Lively, who was spotted wearing 4 pairs of the designer’s shoes under a span of 24 hours. Some other celebrities who have worn Christian Louboutin includes Rihanna, Janelle Monáe, Travis Scott, Gigi Hadid, Chadwick Boseman, Olivia Munn, Jennifer Lopez, Sara Jessica Parker, just to name a few.
It is to no surprise too that Christian Louboutin takes a lot of pride in his work. Till date, each and every design and decoration is by Louboutin himself. Given how far Louboutin has come, it is of no doubt that he has many famous quotes. Some of which that I really appreciate:
“A woman can be sexy, charming, witty or shy with her shoes.”
“A woman carries her clothes. But the shoe carries the woman.”
“A shoe is not only a design, but it's a part of your body language, the way you walk. The way you're going to move is quite dictated by your shoes.”

“A good pump is a silhouette, like the bone structure of the face. It's like a beautiful face with no make-up. You can cover a not-so-beautiful face with make-up, but it is just a mask - it is the same with shoes.”
