Have you ever wondered about the story behind each brand? It has always occurred to me about how each brand builds their success story. Of course, we are more aware about stories of mega companies such as Alibaba, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, etc. How about what lies behind the fashion scene?
Today, I am sharing about a recent documentary that I have watched on the brand Manolo Blahnik, a brand started in London, designing high end women shoes. Manolo first started making shoes for lizards. Nope, not for the lizards to wear, but to attract lizards or shoes with lizards. Well, to some who are not a big fan of reptiles, this sounds eerie... But, doesn’t this sound interesting too?
Moving on, Manolo Blahnik aims to design comfort shoes for ladies, no matter how high the heels are. Till today, every single pair of design is done by none other than Manolo Blahnik himself. Here’s the sharing of one of his famous quotes, which I personally am very much for it:
“There is nothing charming about a woman who cannot walk in her shoes.”

One celebrity who is a big fan of Manolo Blahnik is Rihanna, so much so that they have a collaboration together. The “So Stoned” collection is mind blowing… The jewels designed together with the plastic strap is an awesome combination of sexiness to the next elegance level. The lesson I am learning from this brand is:
- The sky is the limit. Let your creativity run. Take a look at Manolo Blahnik designs. I am honestly impressed by the creativity. Some of his design look simple yet you know the details and effort put into it is not that simple.
- Made with the heart (Le Cuore’s slogan) and stay focus. Have a clear direction of where you want to head. Listen to your heart and let the ideas flow.
